This site was officially launched on 7th September
2002.
Warlinnen is a
website owned by the Cornish Language
Fellowship (Kowethas an Yeth Kernewek).
The name means 'online'.
The idea of Warlinnen
is to give an information source for
people who do not speak the language to
find out more, but to also provide Cornish
speakers and students with online tools
and a community centre.
On the English side of the
site, visitors can learn basic facts about
the Cornish Language, learn some phrases,
search the basic dictionary for words,
find out what their local place name is in
the Cornish Language, buy books and
dictionaries, and find out the latest news
about what is happening with the language.
There is also a page for children.
Warlinenn has been
part paid for by Cornwall County
Council (£500) and is operated by the
Fellowship's media officer, Matthew
Clarke.
The site can also be used
by the press as a starting point for
research. Try out browsing the FAQ
section for general information about the
language, or look through our news pages
for the latest news about what is
happening with Cornish.
