Krena' means 'quaking' in Cornish. That gives you an idea of the style of music we play. Our raison d'etre is to bring the Cornish Language to more people by turning it into rock, funk, and even punk.We formed in March 2003 and so far we have played: Lowender Peran 2003/4; Caradon Festival of Arts and Culture; Barley Sheaf Liskeard; Dehwelans; Castle Rock, Pan Celtic Festival, Blue Anchor (Helston) and Keay Theatre.

LATEST NEWS:

Krena represented Cornwall at the PanCeltic Song Contest in Letterkenny in Easter 2007. Dan and Tom could not make it, so the line-up is now (left to right) Brian Inman (guitar), Jess Inman (drums), Paul Welsh (bass) and Matthew Clarke (vocals). Unfortunately it was not the year for rock, and came 6th out of 6! We have a picture of the Irish judge with her fingers in her ears during our song. I hope to publish it when we get it.

March 2005: Krena won the Pan Celtic Song Contest in Ireland on Thursday 31st March 2005. We narrowly beat Ireland in a tie-break. Scotland came third, Wales 4th and Isle of Man 5th.

3rd September 2005: Krena have been presented with the Bournemouth Cornish Association Cup at the Gorseth in Wadebridge for being the best Cornish music group.

4th September 2005: Featured on BBC Radio Cornwall (interview and track)

22nd October 2005: Krena perform the PanCeltic winning song 'Fordh dhe Dalvann' at Lowender Peran. Matthew, Tom and Dan were backed by Naked Feet's guitarist and keyboard player for this first performance as a band since The Pan Celtic Festival in March.

26th February 2006: Krena record 'Fordh dhe Dalvann' and 'Ganso arta' at Brian Inman's studio.

3rd March 2006: Krena on Pirate FM

14th March 2006: Well Dennis Church was with us for one gig, but unfortunately life has got in the way of him and cannot be with us. Luckily, we have just had Tim Chapple of CornishMusic.com  join us as our new bass player. Have to get him trained up in time for our May gig.

20th May 2006: Krena played a special Stannary Parliament gig at the Keay Theatre in St Austell. See a clip of the gig here.

13th July 2006: Krena appeared at Nicals again.

23rd July 2006: Krena appeared at Blue Anchor in Helston in the Helstonbury Festival. This was Tim's last gig with us.

12th April 2007: Krena take part in the PanCeltic Song Contest taking sixth place out of six! We made radio history the same day though by being the first performers to perform live from Raidio Na Gaeltachta's new mobile studio.
