Speak Cornish Week is back!

Would you like to try some Cornish? Go to an event where Cornish is being used? Find out more about the language? Design a poster or a meme, make a film or take a photo?

Here is your chance! Speak Cornish Week, which this year runs from the 23rd June to 2nd July is a chance to highlight all things Cornish. The programme of events for this year includes bus trips, cream teas, train rides, outdoor conversation events, children’s activities and more -and there is still time to register an event if you would like to organise something!
Contact speakcornish@yahoo.co.uk

The theme for this year is Prag Na? Why not? We’d like to know what you would like to do – tell us in Cornish in a film, on a poster, in a meme, in a photo – there are lots of possibilities! Prag na mordardha (Why not go surfing?) Prag na restri kevewi? (Why not have a party?) Proag na dybri dehen Kernewek? (Why not eat Cornish cream?) Prag na kewsel Kernewek? (Why not speak Cornish?) You will find suggestions on the Speak Cornish Week facebook page or on Twitter.

Then post your suggestions on social media with the hashtag #speakcornish17 and share away! If you need more translations the Cornish Language Office will be glad to help! cornishlanguage@cornwall.gov.uk

Let’s make this year’s Speak Cornish bigger and better than ever – Prag na?
